Creating a Packing List

So you’ve made a decision to go on a journey somewhere.
You’ve chosen your destination, and booked your flights
and maybe even some accommodation also.
Now you only have to determine the things you need to bring along with you to make sure that your vacation is great fun and worry free.
You’ll want to create a packing list that covers everything you’ll need for your travels.

The very first thing you should contemplate is the length and type of trip which you are taking.
What you bring for a 1 week holiday to Mexico shall be different than what you’d take on a 3 month backpacking tour around Europe.

You ought to decide exactly what type of luggage you ought to bring to place your stuff in.
If your vacation is shorter or you will probably be staying in only one or two different places then getting a suitcase (the kind with wheels) could be your best option. If your likely going to be travelling around and exploring then getting a backpack might be more suited to your holiday.

Next, you’ll want to work out what clothes to bring (and just how many of them).
Understand just what the weather and temperature shall be like at your destination and pack accordingly.
If your going on a business trip you will have to remember your suit (or anything you wear for business). If there’s the opportunity for swimming or hot tubbing then be sure you bring a bathing suit. With regards to socks and underwear my general rule of thumb is to pack just enough for 5-7 days of travel. Which means you will not constantly be doing laundry on the road and you also shouldn t be carrying around way way too much stuff.

Now you will need  together a packing list of any electronics or gadgets you may be bringing with you.
A camera to document your vacation can be a great idea as are spare batteries for it.
I often travel with my laptop and am able to fit my camera and a few other gadgets in with my laptop bag.
If they’re entering into your backpack or suitcase, put them within a plastic ziploc bag first.
It will protect them from any unintentional water damage and you may use the ziploc bags later for storing dirty or wet clothing.

Finally, you will need to figure out which toiletries and personal stuff you want to pack.
Getting items like shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, and toothpaste in travel sized containers is a good technique to save space and make sure it is possible to keep your toiletries in a bag. Make sure this bag could be closed to minimize spillages within your clothing.

So that’s just about it.

Now, there are many other ways to design your packing list.
You could write it on a piece of paper or word document.
There’s also a packing list creator popularly known as The Travel Packer that may automatically build a packing list for you based on information you input like \”gender\”, \”duration of trip\” \”type of trip\” etc.
